National Weather Service

Satellites, Doppler Radars, Automated Ground Sensors, Sophisticated Computers and a Network of Modernized Forecasting Offices comprise the most advanced weather and flood warning and forecast system in the world.

For $4 Per Person, the National Weather Service provides 734,000 weather forecasts, 850,000 river and flood forecasts and between 45,000 and 50,000 potentially life-saving severe weather warnings annually.

All Government Agencies, Private Organizations, the United States Public, and people and organizations around the world use the National Weather Service's information data base and infrastructure for weather data and information.

The United States, Its Territories, Adjacent Waters and Ocean Areas use National Weather Service weather, water, and climate forecasts and warnings to help protect life and property and enhance the national economy.

Partnerships with Emergency Management Managers, the Media, and Commercial Weather Services help the National Weather Service get severe weather warnings and alerts to the people who need the information for their safety and well-being.

NOAA Weather Radio provides alarm services for warnings of severe weather to home, business and government buildings and agencies.
