A: I work in NESDIS as the Chief Scientist for Satellite and Information Services
Q: When did you begin your work with NOAA?
A: I began in 1961 with the Mereorological Satellite Laboratory, U.S. Weather Bureau
Q: Looking back, what events stand out as the most memorable during your time with NOAA?
A: Conducting and participating in national and international workshops on the applications of satellite data in meteorology, oceanography, hydrology, and other environmental applications during the early stages of development, In particular, the interaction with great scientists like Dr. Sigmund Fritz, Prof. Vernon Suomi, Prof. Ted Fujita, and Dr. John McElroy.
Q: From your point of view, what have been the most significant changes NOAA has experienced during the past 30 years?
A: Expanding to other disiplines like Marine Applications, Hydrology and Fisheries; also taking the lead role in climate-related matters and improving the accuracy of the weather forecasts and warnings.
